Hey 773124, Punk music is not about augmented triads, resolving dissonance, or even singing in key for that matter. Its about attitude. You know that. Nobody claims they write good punk music, however some tend to pull it off pretty well.

I like what dopefiend said....
First time I went to a dead show I was 15. Two girlfriends and I hitch hiked down to Long Beach from the desert. We went to buy a sheet of acid to sell back at school. We decided to do a "meltdown" which meant you kept dropping hits every hour. Hitch hiking back was insane.....we were out of our minds, but we somehow made it!

As far as him not being well-humoured, anyone has its style. I, for one, think that Ness is ironic which, for some people, is the same as being funny... Just listen to Live at Roxy and Mike's brief comments in between songs (especially the piece on "when punk rock was dangerous" -- isn't it funny?).
Last but not least, I don't care whether Dave Matthews can be a good storyteller. His music is dull, dull, dull...
I want to know what makes DMB so dull. please explain.
In the words of 773124 "How do they suck?" This is so true what makes them suck? I haven't found anything yet.
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Listen up Ness has been telling us that he was going to make an album since around 2000, telling us that they were going to go in the studio that year. Ness has put it off until now showing how lazy he is. SD has had new music for a while now (you should know that if you have been to shows) and they could've put out an album long ago. You guys are missing the point because Ness has had new music for a long time.Originally posted by DopeFiend:
The guy who started this thread missed the point by thinking that Mike should behave like a 9 to 5 worker. Listen, Ness is creating music and it takes time and inspiration to write songs that keep Social D's high standard. C'mon, the band doesn't even have a weak song in its entire discography and that's quite an accomplishment! As for your example, the act of teaching music has nothing to do with writing music. Mike Ness, for the lack of a better term, is an artist and you can't pressure an artist like he's a construction worker or something.
SHUT UP ALREADY
<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">I have majored in music and I like some punk. anyways SD has pretty much always written good music with the attitude, just listen to SBHAH and White light. I simply said that Ness should have musical guests. you know that the croud would love it. I know me and friend would.Originally posted by wolfpits:

Now go deodorize you pits and your attitude!
ok Larry, shame on Mike for not doing what YOU want him to do....give it a rest will ya? Listen to something else then and quit making pathetic attempts at being funny i.e. telling Steve to go smell his pits....what is THAT anyway? FOR THE LAST TIME MIKE IS IN THE STUDIO MAKING HIS ALBUM - build a bridge and GET OVER IT
have a nice day PRECIOUS

yeah, that build a bridge thing I said was so stupid I had to do it! I was in the elevator this morning and this dorky guy (poor thing) was talking to his co-worker and he said that. I don't know what they were talking about, but it sounded so lame I had to try it out......it didn't have the same effect in type though. Hearing somebody actually SAY those words was priceless.
